SIZABANTU CONTRACTORS has been involved in the rubber removal
industry since 1994.
We began removing rubber deposits using high pressure blasting at
pressures ranging between 800 and 1500 bar and found that at these
pressures, production rate was low and there was evident damage to
the microtexture and grooves in the runway pavements.
Furthermore, a lot of time was wasted as High Pressure Blasting at
these pressures use a vast amount of water resulting in between 1.5
and 2 hours lost each shift to refill water tanks, which is almost
half of the normally allocated time on runway.
Research to improve our system led us to studies by the American
Transportation Research Board at the National Academies, which
showed that using Ultra High Water cutting at pressures between 2500
and 2800 bar to remove rubber deposits not only restores
macrotexture by removing rubber and contaminants from surface voids,
but also improves microtextures and restores polished aggregate to
its original state.
These finds convinced us to replace our system with Ultra High
Pressure water cutting systems, which have improved our production
rate and cleaning quality with no damage to surfaces.
Ultra High Pressure water cutting uses less water, resulting in no
downtime to refill water tanks during shifts, allowing valuable time
allocated to be used productively.
We have three complete rubber removal trucks housing equipment
specifically designed for the removal of rubber depostis and painted
road marking, capable of removing 1800 m² per hour, with integrated
vacuum system to collect and store removed rubber.
SIZABANTU is able to conduct rubber removal operations in any
country in Africa. |
